ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

All levels are welcome to play and all proceeds go to the food co-op!

There are several ways you can get involved to support our tournament, even if you’re not a golfer. We are looking for business owners and individuals who can sponsor each hole, our longest drive, and closest to the pin competitions. Volunteers are needed before, during and after the tournament, during our rounds of golf, and for the banquet dinner. We also need gift baskets and other donations for the raffle.

Tournament includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, putting contest, lunch, dinner at 4:30 PM, and raffle prizes. Contests during the tournament will include hole-in-one, closest to the pin, longest drive (men and women), putting, and prizes for first, second, and third place.

17th Annual Heart of Downtown Golf Tournament

Groceries (produce, dairy, canned, dried, and frozen goods) are distributed between 12:30 & 1:30 PM on every other Sunday. No hot meals are served.

ABOUT US

The Heart of Downtown Food Co-Op is a ministry of Wilshire Avenue Community Church, located in the heart of Downtown Fullerton. We are a non-profit organization that is supported by the church, individuals, and businesses throughout Orange County.

We operate as a cooperative, allowing beneficiaries to give back to this ministry by serving through it. We rely solely on the volunteering efforts of others who would love to see hunger eradicated throughout the region.

The mission of the Heart of Downtown Food Co-op is to improve the quality of life of those individuals and families in need who may not be able to provide adequate food and necessities for themselves.  As a non-profit organization, we network with local food providers and community agencies in order to provide the best services possible. We help people achieve self-sufficiency by providing temporary food to individuals or families regardless of race, age, disability, gender, immigration status, national origin, or religious belief.

Our vision is to alleviate hunger in Fullerton and the surrounding communities. We accomplish this with a dynamic group of volunteers who source donations, package nutritious food to stretch a family’s food supply and distribute that food to qualifying residents in the Fullerton area.  We exist to meet the current and future hunger needs of our neighbors in need and ensure client self-sufficiency through active partnerships with other Orange County organizations.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Give Time

We always welcome new volunteers to help set up tables, canopies, and prepare groceries to pass out food 3o minutes before and during pantry distribution hours which are every other Sunday from 12:30 – 1:30 PM.

Donate Food Items

Year-round, the office accepts donations of canned, boxed, and dried food items like peanut butter and jelly; canned meat, fruit and vegetables; canned or dried beans; canned soup; canned or dried pasta; cereal; crackers; and granola bars and other pre-packaged foods.  For fresh or frozen produce, meats, dairy items, or breads, please contact the office first to keep your donation from spoiling.

Play Golf

Each year in October/November, Wilshire Avenue Community Church together with local business sponsors hosts a golf tournament and banquet to benefit the food cooperative.  Contact the office to get specific date and location details.

Support Us Financially

Along with the basic grocery staples, there is also a need to purchase fresh produce, meats, and dairy when the opportunity arises.  All financial contributions are tax-deductible.
